ARNOLD, MO — A tractor-trailer accident involving three trucks left one truck driver dead in Arnold, Missouri on Thursday, June 19th, 2014, according to the news report from KSDK.
Authorities tasked with leading the crash investigation have said that they have reason to believe one person was killed when the tractor-trailer they were driving collided with the rear of two other tractor-trailer while driving on Interstate 55 near Highway 141 around 1:30 Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the rear tractor-trailer was killed after the truck erupted into flames.
The Missouri State Police is helping with the crash investigation.
Commentary:
The fact that the truck burst into flames after the accident is the single biggest standout detail I see in the news. Each time I see a fact pattern where a truck has caught fire after a crash, my mind wanders to that big, metal cylinder you often see mounted beneath the driver’s side door of these trucks. Believe it or not, this is a gas tank, and as you can imagine, with this kind of exposure to the road, these tanks rupture frequently in accidents. If the gas tank on this truck was punctured and caused a fire.
