GOOD HOPE, IL — A tractor crash left a man driver dead in Good Hope, Illinois on Tuesday, June 17th, 2014, according to a news report from Fox 2 Now.
Authorities in charge of the crash investigation say that 86-year-old Robert Goodpasture was killed when the tractor he was driving was hit by another vehicle on Highway 67.

Robert Goodpasture was ejected from his vehicle and was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. It is not clear from the report if the driver of the other vehicle sustained injury.
The investigation is being handled by officials from the Illinois State Police.
Commentary:
While there are not many details to work with in the news, I’d be curious to know a few things, namely the speed of the vehicle that struck the tractor. Why? Because by no means are tractors small, fast moving vehicles. They are large, and slow on the road. If the driver of the car was speeding, or not paying attention to the road and hit this vehicle, the driver of the car could be facing the liability, but there are still many facts to be determined, and this is my immediate take on the situation.
