SAN JUAN, TX — A two-car collision sent five people to the hospital in San Juan, Texas on Monday, June 16th, 2014, according to the news article from KRGV.
Investigators working with local accident reconstruction teams have said that they have reason to believe five people were hurt when an SUV and a pickup truck collided while one of the vehicles was turning near the intersection of Eldora and Raul Longoria Roads around 10:30 Monday afternoon.
Scene of the Accident
Two adults and three children were taken by EMS personnel to area hospitals. Updates on their status were not made immediately available by hospital representatives.
The investigation is currently being handled by officials from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Commentary:
The news article is pretty thin on real details, but this type of collision is more than likely going to boil down to which one of the vehicles was making a legal turn, and had the right of way, especially if the other vehicle was speeding. If the accident happened where the the first vehicle was turning across traffic, the other vehicle could be liable if they were speeding, causing the victim to misjudge the turn, but again, it all depends on the final facts and on details I don’t currently have.
