OPELIKA, AL — A two-vehicle tractor-trailer accident sent two people to the hospital in Opelika, Alabama on Friday, June 13th, 2014, according to a news article released by WTVM.
The Alabama State Police have said that they have reason to believe a tractor-trailer driver and a passenger were hurt when two tractor-trailers while driving on Highway 280.

A driver and a passenger in one of the tractor-trailer were taken by EMS personnel to Eastern Alabama Medical Center where an update on their condition was immediately unavailable.
The investigation into the crash is being handled by representatives from the Alabama State Police.
Commentary:
Any time I come across a fact pattern where a tractor-trailer has rear ended another vehicle, I see the situation heading in one of two directions. Either the driver was not paying attention, surfing on his phone, ipad, reprogramming his GPS, or talking to home base on his radio, and by the time he looked up there was not enough time to stop the truck. This could also imply that he may have been speeding, or following too closely. On the other hand, the truck could have suffered a brake failure, and the driver could have done nothing to avoid an accident of some kind. In either of these possible scenarios, the trucking company would bear the brunt of the fault.
