BROWN COUNTY, WI — Three people were rushed to a hospital after a collision in Brown County, Wisconsin on Thursday, June 12th, 2014, according to the news article from The New York Daily News.
Police believe that three people were hurt when a wrong-way driver collided with their vehicle for reasons currently under investigation while driving down Highway 41.
Scene of the Accident
Three people, including an 11-year-old girl were hurt in the accident. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment where an update on their condition was immediately unavailable.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
Commentary:
The main question I have revolving around this accident is where the alcohol came from. If this driver was three times the legal limit when the accident happened as the newspapers suggest, I’m wondering if at any point during the day if he stopped at a beer or liquor store to restock. If this person was visibly intoxicated, with difficulty walking as outlined in the article, then the clerk at the liquor store had an obligation to refuse the sale. If the clerk failed in this duty, the liquor store could bear some of the libaliby in this accident based on their negligent sale of alcohol, but again, it all depends on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
