BRYAN, TX — A driver was rushed to the hospital following a crash that happened in Bryan, Texas on Sunday, June 8th, 2014, according to a news article released by KBTX.
Investigators currently believe that one person was hurt when the vehicle they were in crashed and rolled while driving on Highway 47 after striking a guardrail around 8:00 Sunday evening.
Scene of the Accident
The driver of the vehicle was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital where they were last reported in stable condition following the accident.
Texas Department of Transportation officials are investigating the crash, and hope to release the results of their evaluation at a later date.
Commentary:
This is the kind of accident where even though driver fatigue is mentioned, I’m curious as to what caused the vehicle to burst into flames after a seemingly average car accident. Passenger vehicles these days are designed and constructed from the ground up with safety and crash survivability in mind. If the injuries to the victim were caused by the fire, an experienced investigator could tell where the fire originated in the vehicle, which could tell us if the manufacturer of the car bears some liability simply for the fact that this accident didn’t have to be as bad as it was if their design was up to snuff in the first place.
