Tracy Morgan in Critical Condition after Tractor-Trailer Accident in Robbinsville, New Jersey

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ — Actor/comedian Tracy Morgan remains in critical condition following a tractor-trailer accident that happened in Robbinsville, New Jersey on Saturday, June 7th, 2014, according to CNN.

New Jersey police say that Tracy Morgan was one of eight people in a limo that was struck by a tractor-trailer from the rear before overturning on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Tracy Morgan was rushed to a nearby hospital along with six other passengers after the accident, where all of them remain in critical condition.

One passenger in the limo was identified in the news as James McNair, who was killed in the crash.

Authorities hope to release the cause of the accident when the investigation is completed.

Commentary:

Judging from the photos taken of the accident scene, this looks like a very, very serious accident – and just from skimming the reports, it looks like the tractor-trailer may be at fault. While Tracy Morgan has quite a few fans around this office, and we all hope is okay, this accident is only getting this kind of attention due to the celebrity status of one of the victims. In reality, these kinds of devastating truck accidents happen every single day, in every single state. With more and more trucks being put on the road each year, and the higher number of civilian drivers, this trend is likely to worsen. Hopefully this kind of exposure to the public will get people talking and aware of how common truck driver negligence can be. Our condolences to the deceased, and we hope everyone makes a speedy recovery.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
