PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A three vehicle accident sent two children to the hospital after a serious accident that happened in Pflugerville, Texas on Thursday, May 29th, 2014, according to a report from KXAN.

Investigators say that they believe a 1 and 3-year-old children were hurt when a black minivan collided with two vehicles after running a red light while driving on Highway 130.

Scene of the Accident

Both children were taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The 3-year-old is said to have suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

The Texas Department of Transportation is handling the crash investigation.

Commentary:

This accident is more than likely going to be the fault of whichever vehicle ran the red-light, as the news report indicates. But what if the news report is wrong? The majority of these news articles are written based on brief police report releases, which more often than not are discredited later on down the road. Why? Because these news reports are written by police officers who are directing traffic and tending to victims at the same time. Needless to say, many important details can be overlooked in the chaos after a crash.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
