KNOXVILLE, TN — A head-on accident between an SUV and a pickup truck claimed the life of one person in Knoxville, Tennessee on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014, according to WATE-6.
Police have said that they have reason to believe one person was killed when an SUV and a pickup truck collided head-on while driving on Chapman Highway near Meridian Road around 5:30 on Wednesday evening.
Scene of the Accident
The person driving the SUV was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver of the pickup truck was transported to a nearby hospital. An update on his condition was immediately unavailable.
Officials from the Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the crash investigation.
Commentary:
The details of this accident are relatively scarce, but determining which one of the vehicles may have crossed over and why should be the next order of business. While there is a propensity for people to pin these kinds of accidents on drivers the first chance they get, that’s not really giving the situation the fairest shake it deserves. I’ve handled plenty of accidents, but never once have I found wreckage that was free of problems before the accident. Whether or not the mechanical problem is related in any way to the accident is another story, but finding out the truth is more important than having somebody to blame.
