ALLEN, TX — A head-on crash claimed the life of one driver in Allen, Texas on Friday, May 23, 2014, according to a news report from The Dallas Morning News.
Authorities have said that they believe that 59-year-old Deon Lewis was killed when the vehicle he was in was struck head-on by a vehicle that was improperly passing on a two-lane road while driving on Stacy Road around 1:00 Friday.
Scene of the Accident
Deon Lewis was killed in the crash. The driver of the offending car was identified in the report as Mathew Wise, who currently faces charges of reckless driving in connection with the accident.
Commentary:
If this article is accurate, the driver is probably facing some serious liability. People assume that just because the driver was arrested after the crash, that there is zero legwork to be done, and that the situation is open-and-shut, when in reality, the offending driver has every opportunity to dispute the official record. This is why safeguarding yourself with additional investigation is always a wise decision, because it can add to the overall sum of the evidence, and get investigators closer to the truth.
