Fort Worth, TX — An accident at the intersection of John T. White Road and the Loop 820 service road left a man dead on Thursday, May 15. The accident occurred when a black Lexus went through an intersection, hitting a white pickup that was also driving through.

The accident took place around 6:30 in the evening.

Commentary

The number of hit and run accidents I read about in which the driver of the car flees the scene on foot would really surprise people. I’ve never understood it. They’re leaving their vehicle behind. If not the car itself, there’s going to be some piece of evidence that’s going to lead the authorities back to them. What’s worse is that if the accident truly were an accident, staying at the scene to explain what happened to the police would actually do the person more good in the long run. When someone runs, people automatically assume they’re guilty. In this case, if the driver of the Lexus drove through an intersection with a blinking red light, they actually were in the wrong. If they did it because they were drunk at the time, then that obviously compounds the situation, and the victim’s family would have the right to recover damages.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
