UPDATE: Kristina Gonzalez Injured in Alleged Drunk Driving Accident in Corpus Christi, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — One woman was injured in a rollover accident that happened in Corpus Christi, Texas on Thursday, May 15th, 2014, according to a report from KIII-TV.

Authorities working with local police have said that they have reason to think that 26-year-old Kristina Gonzalez was hurt when the vehicle she was driving struck a barrier and rolled while driving on South Padre Island Drive around 2:30 Thursday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Kristina Gonzalez was taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of her injuries.

She currently faces drunk driving related charges in connection with the accident.

Commentary:

People really need to look at the time that supposed alcohol related accidents take place. The fact that this accident happened just after the 2:00 closing time for bars in Texas tells me it is not outside the realm of possibility she was at one before the accident. What bearing does this have on the accident and its subsequent proceedings? Quite a bit actually. If this driver came from a bar where she was given too much to drink, or was sold alcohol despite being visibly drunk, the bar could be liable for the accident. Texas lawmakers saw bars no different than an anesthesiologist, who are held accountable for when their patients injure themselves in an accident after a procedure where they were told it was safe to drive. Bars and nightclubs will only see drunk drivers as a liability if they are held liable for drunk driving accidents.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
