PRICE, UT — Two people in a tractor-trailer were hurt in a chain-reaction accident that happened in Price, Utah on Tuesday, May 13th, 2014, according to the Sun Advocate Daily.
Investigators from the Utah State Police have said that they have reason to believe two people were hurt when a Fed Ex triple tractor-trailer crashed into a construction zone before being hit by another tractor-trailer while driving on Highway 6 near intersection with Highway 123.
Scene of the Accident
Both the driver and a passenger in the tractor-trailer were taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
Utah State Police are still investigating the crash.
Commentary:
This is where a situation will probably come down to comparative fault, but I’m very curious to what the second tractor-trailer was up to before the accident. Any driver is supposed to make sure they have room to stop, or avoid an accident should a boulder fall out of the sky and stop the car in front of them flat. Truckers need to be extra aware of this following distance due to the sheer mass of the trucks, and how much extra distance is required to stop the vehicle. If the driver failed to avoid the accident or failed to reduce his speed, the trucking company he works for will more than likely bear some fault in this crash.
