Santa Rosa, CA — A man was killed in an accident that police believe was caused by a drunk driver. The accident took place on Occidental Road near Stony Point Road, in Santa Rosa, California.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was standing next to his car, which was parked on the side of the street, when Enrique Sanabria-Ruiz drove by and hit him with his truck.
Sanabria-Ruiz later failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. Police say that speed was not a contributing factor in the accident.
The accident is still under investigation.

Of course, if the driver of the truck was drunk when the accident occurs, then he’s liable for the accident. You don’t drink and get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Period. Even if we gave the driver the benefit of the doubt and said that maybe he wasn’t drunk, he’s still liable for the accident, because as a driver, he has a duty to not hit pedestrians standing on the side of the road with his truck. To make a long story short, the driver seems to be in the wrong here, and he needs to be held accountable for it.
