Commentary:
I’m very curious to know what the driver of the tractor-trailer was doing in the case of this accident when the crash occurred. Whenever I see a rear-end tractor-trailer accident, I cant help but see a failure to reduce speed, or distance, or a distracted driver. Luckily, all of these things can be investigated and proven or disproved. Trucks these days are outfitted with electronic monitoring, and if the driver was speeding before the crash, the data would reflect this. Additionally, if he was distracted, surfing on his phone, an investigator can look at the device to see if it was in use at the time of the crash, making the driver, and the company they work for, potentially liable for the accident.
