COLEMAN, TX — One person was killed in a head-on collision that happened in Coleman, Texas on Sunday, April 27th, 2014, according to a news report from Coleman News.
Police have said that they have reason to believe Joyce Loomis was killed when the vehicle she was in became involved in a head-on collision for reason currently under investigation while driving on Highway 84 around 11:20 Sunday morning.

Joyce Loomis was pronounced dead on the scene by a local Justice of the Peace, while three people were taken to nearby hospitals with unspecified injuries.
Officials from the Coleman Police Department are investigating the crash.

You may wonder how things are decided in head-on accidents where it is not clear which vehicle crossed over. Well, since there is no sure fire way to tell, and no time machines to go back and witness the crash, the best we have is the evidence left behind after the crashes. If a consensus cannot be agreed upon by police and witnesses, this evidence is then presented to a jury, who makes the best possible call in allocating the fault to the proper parties. This is called contributory negligence, or comparative fault, which is used in more than half the states to determine fault, and ultimately, who is responsible for damages.
