FARMINGTON, NY — One woman has died after a collision with a tractor-trailer in Farmington, New York on Friday, May 9th, 2014, according to a news report from Syracuse News Online.
Investigators have said that they believe 31-year-old Deborah McDonald was killed when the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on by a tractor-trailer that crossed unexpectedly into her path while driving on The New York State Thruway on Friday morning.

Deborah McDonald was killed in the crash. The driver of the truck was not immediately hurt after the accident.
Representatives from the New York State Police are handling the crash investigation.
Commentary:
If the news is to be believed, and this was a crossover accident, I would be very curious to see if the truck was the vehicle that did the crossing over. People assume that just because these drivers are professional drivers, and are paid to do what they do, that they are somehow immune to distraction and the same careless driving errors that regular cars fall victim to every day. I just saw a case where a truck driver was surfing the internet on his phone when the vehicle caused an accident, and the only way we knew this was by examining the driver-facing camera in the cab of the truck.
