MARION COUNTY, KY — One woman has died after a tractor-trailer collision that happened in Marion County, on Friday, May 9th, 2014, according to a news article from Kentucky News Online.
Police working with accident investigation teams have said that they have reason to believe Elizabeth Pittman was killed when the vehicle she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer while attempting to pass while driving on Highway 68 around 2:30 in the afternoon.

Emergency responders pronounced Elizabeth Pittman dead on the scene when they arrived. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
Officials from the Kentucky State Police were helping with the crash cleanup and investigation.
Commentary:
The news article is fairly clear that the victim was at fault, but rarely do I ever see a case where things are so black and white as the 100 percent fault and innocence on the respective parties. In the State of Texas, we have a system called comparative fault, or contributory negligence that allows a jury to allocate fault based off a percentage point system after being presented with all the evidence. If this accident was 97 percent the fault of the victim, and 3 percent the fault of the driver, then the record needs to reflect this. The truth behind these accidents is always the motivator for families involved, and setting the record straight can bring a great deal of relief.
