Commentary:
If this news article turns out to be accurate, and this driver was intoxicated in addition to being underage, there should be some serious alarms going off in people’s minds. Any time I see an underage person in possession of or under the influence of alcohol, it represents a failure to sell or serve alcohol, and finding out where the alcohol came from should be priority number one. If this person walked into any bar or liquor store and simply purchased alcohol without being asked for identification, the establishment can, and should be held accountable for the accident. This has happened before, and punishing a bar right along side a driver is the best way to send a message to the entire industry that negligent provision is a crime, not a business model.
