One Killed in Car Accident on Cedardale Road in Oak Cliff, Texas

OAK CLIFF, TX — One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident that happened in Oak Cliff, Texas on Friday, May 9th, 2014, according to My Fox DFW.

Police familiar with details of the crash have said that they believe one person was killed when the car they were driving skidded off the road and crashed into New Mount Olive Baptist Church while driving on Cedardale Road on Friday afternoon.

Scene of the Accident

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. It is not immediately specified if there were any other injuries in the accident, or if they were alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities from the Dallas Police Department are currently investigating the accident.

Commentary:

Any time I show somebody a single-vehicle accident, they are all-too-fast to blame the driver. While this may be a safe bet, it is by no means the only angle to look at, and it certainly isnt subjective. Look at any car in a crowded mall parking lot on the weekend. What are the odds that the one you picked out to look at was fresh off the lot without a single mechanical problem, or worn out part. These odds would be slim to none. Now that we have established that mechanical errors are common in vehicles, is it really outside the realm of possibility that one of these errors could have caused the accident? If this turns out to be what happened, the manufacturer could be held accountable for the crash.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
