There’s a lot we’re still not sure of here. News reports don’t say what exactly caused the accident. The accident’s resolution is going to depend greatly on whoever the authorities find to be liable. The difference is that a company owns the tour bus, and as a commercial vehicle they’re required to carry a greater amount of insurance. Depending on the accident, the amount of damage done and the injuries sustained, these companies can sometimes be on the hook for very large amounts, so companies will usually invest a lot of time in figuring out how to blame the other parties in involved regardless of who’s actually at fault. It’s an unfortunate reality, but it is a reality, and it’s something that people involved in these situations need to be aware of.
