Commentary
There aren’t many details on this accident being reported in the media. What I’ve read said that the driver was going around a curve when he lost control of the truck and rolled over. Unfortunately, this is something I see happen quite a bit. It’s unfortunate that these trucks are carrying such heavy loads, but the cabs crumple like tinfoil whenever they’re in a serious accident. Reports say the truck was carrying a load of rocks. I’m not sure exactly how they were loaded in the car, but that might have had something to do with the truck’s equilibrium as the driver was coming around the curve.
If an investigation finds that the truck was suffering from some sort of structural deficiency, then it would be the manufacturer’s job to step up and make things right.
