Franklin, TN — Authorities are reporting an accident that took place this morning in Franklin, Tennessee, near the intersection of Southall Road and Blazer Road, around seven in the morning.
The accident happened when a cement truck reportedly collided with with a car. Emergency workers arriving on the scene were forced to extricate the driver from the car. The driver was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The names of those involved, as well as any factors that may have contributed to the accident, have not been released yet.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is on the scene of the accident and the collision is still being investigated.

Commentary
It’s very early going here, and there’s not a lot we know about this accident. The fact that it took place at seven in the morning makes it’s more likely that driver fatigue could have played a part in things. The drivers of commercials vehicles these days are often pushed very hard to deliver their haul in as short of time as possible. They’re also generally considered to be on the clock when they’re actually out, on the road. So, these things together can sometimes cause them to make unwise choices. Again, we don’t know much about this accident, so I’m only speculating here.
