Commentary:
We do not yet know what may have caused this accident, but on the off chance that this was caused by a tire blowout, people may be surprised to learn that tires are built from two parts, and not one solid portion of rubber like most people would think. Tires are actually built from two major portions of rubber that are glued together- the tread, and the sidewall. This is why you hear of tires being able to be retreaded. They simply strip off the old, bald tread and replace it with a new fresh strip. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, things can go wrong with this process, and tire blowouts are often caused by problems that lie between these two parts. If this turns out to be the case, the manufacturer of the tire, or the shop responsible for retreading it may be liable for the accident.
