UPDATE: Malcom Lloyd Killed in Car Accident in Miami Beach, Florida

MIAMI BEACH, FL — One man was killed and two more were injured in a high-speed accident that happened in Miami Beach, Florida on Thursday, April 24th, 2014, according to a news report from Local 10.

Investigators have said that they have reason to believe that Malcom Lloyd was killed when the Lamborghini Aventador in which he was a passenger collided with the rear of an SUV while driving on the MacArthur Causeway bridge at around 3:00 Thursday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Malcom Lloyd was killed in the crash. The driver of the SUV was identified in the report as Raul Alfonzo, who was seriously hurt in a crash.

The investigation is being handled by officials from the Florida State Police.

Commentary:

People often wonder about sports car accidents, and what happens when a passenger is a victim in one. First off, the news suggests that this was a high speed crash, which if true would mean that the driver of the vehicle failed in their duty that they owe the passenger to not drive recklessly, or in a way that may cause an accident. If this news report was accurate, and the vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour, then more than likely they were in breach of the unspoken contract that was made when the driver decided to take on a passenger.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
