COLEMAN, TX — A head-on collision between a truck and an SUV left one woman dead in Coleman, Texas on Sunday, April 27th, 2014, according to a news report from KTXS.
Police have said that they believe Joyce Loomis was killed when the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck head-on by a pickup truck that crossed unexpectedly into the lanes of oncoming traffic while driving on Highway 84 around 11:20 Sunday morning.

Joyce Loomis was killed in the accident. Both Ryan and Rebecca Schuesser were seriously injured in the accident, as was Tara Ritter.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary:
People involved in an accident from out-of-state may wonder how these kind of accidents are handled, and how fault is divided in the State of Texas. Like many other states, Texas uses a ‘comparative fault’ regime, that removes the guesswork from victims, police, and other agencies involved in the investigation. A jury is presented with all the supporting evidence in a case, and to the best of their ability, decides which party bears the liability and to what degree using a percentage point system. This is why investigating the accident independently is important, because it provides the most complete picture for a jury that would hopefully use it to make the most educated decision.
