Commentary:
At first glance, many would be quick to blame the accident on the motorcycle, but just for a minute allow me to look at it from another angle. Many people are unaware of how tractor-trailer lights are connected to the driver. When the driver pushes on the brake, a signal is sent from the pedal to through a wire to the lights that are connected on the trailer. This wire is hanging free over the open road between the trailer and the passenger compartment on the truck. Is it really outside the realm of possibility that this was not properly connected and broken? This is why accidents that seem open-and-shut always warrant a second glance.

I appreciate you mentioning it could be something other than the obvious…Known Homer for over a decade and he was one of the most responsible bike riders I’d ever known. I think that’s what makes this hard to understand…He will be greatly missed. He was an amazing person.
