UPDATE: Dylan Fread Killed in Car Accident Outside Marble Falls, Texas

MARBLE FALLS, TX — One person has died after a serious accident just outside Marble Falls, Texas on Sunday, April 20th, 2014, according to a news article from The Daily Tribune.

Investigators have said that they believe 19-year-old Dylan Fread was killed when the vehicle he was in crashed into a wooded patch while driving on CR 120 around 7:30 Sunday evening.

Scene of the Accident

Dylan Fread was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders when they arrived. The driver of the vehicle was identified in the report as Steven Terry, who was last listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

Commentary:

Considering the details of the accident have not yet fallen into place, many people may have some questions about what happens when a passenger is hurt after a driver has made a mistake behind the wheel. If a person is a passenger in a vehicle where the driver is speeding and texting on their phone before injuring their passenger in an accident, the driver has failed in their duty to that passenger to drive safely and within the parameters of the law. If this accident happened due to driver carelessness, the driver may be liable for the passengers damages if investigation uncovers the right fact pattern.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
