UPDATE: Don Lutrick Killed in Car Accident in Little Rock, Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR — One man has died from the injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle accident that happened in Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014, according to the news article released by FOX-16.

Authorities representing the Arkansas State Police have said that 25-year-old Don Lutrick was fatally injured when the vehicle he was driving was struck by another car while driving in the 2800 block of Cantrell.

Scene of the Accident

Emergency response technicians transported Don Lutrick to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him in the crash a number of days after his arrival.

The driver of the other vehicle did not report immediate injuries in the accident.

Representatives from the Arkansas State Police are assisting with the crash investigation.

Commentary:

Many people would look at the news article and be too quick to blame the driver because they turned in front of the other car, when in reality, if the driver of the other vehicle was speeding at the time of the accident, the victim may not be at fault. I personally know several police officers that cannot for the life of them accurately gauge the speed of a vehicle when it is traveling in your direction. If the victim was making a turn across traffic, and the driver of the other car was going to fast, the victim may have believed there was enough room and time to make the turn, when in fact there was not. These kinds of accidents happen every day, and the unfortunate truth is, the victim is usually the one who is stuck with the fault.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
