Commentary:
Most people who see this kind of fact pattern would readily blame the victim for this kind of accident, but there are a few questions that linger in my mind about it. First of all, people really should not assign any kind of blame or fault based on a news article. There is a real problem with victim-blaming when it comes to serious accidents, and they really not may be at fault at all. There is a gross misconception surrounding crashes that all the vehicles involved are in perfect working order when this is almost never the case. Whenever a vehicle erupts into flames after an accident, I always wonder what may have started it. Vehicles are designed with fire prevention in mind, and whenever one breaks out after an accident, generally something has gone wrong as far as the safety design of the car.
