There are a few different ways to look at this one because reports aren’t being very clear on exactly what happened. In Texas, it’s illegal for a car to pass a school bus when its lights are flashing and its signage is up. That’s not what happened here, but my point is that it feels like we’re conditioned to at least slow down whenever we approach a school bus on the street. So, it’s possible the person driving the minivan wasn’t paying attention and caused the accident. But reports say the bus was in the middle of a right turn. Pictures show that the minivan collided with the right side of the bus, and that most of the damage to the minivan was concentrated on the front passenger side. Whether or not that changes things, I’m not sure. We would need some more information.
