Commentary:
Investigators are still uncertain as to what may have caused this accident, but any time a large commercial vehicle rolls, my mind goes to one of two places. Firstly, the chances that this vehicle suffered a type of mechanical failure are very real. Tractor-trailers and commercial vehicles in general are subjected to far harsher treatment than your average car. Parts such as tires, brakes and steering all wear down and can fail, just as in regular cars. Sure the trucks are maintained to some degree, but can sometimes go overlooked, or outright willfully ignored to save time or money. If a mechanical failure is found to caused this accident, a good hard look at the maintenance record of this vehicle may lead to some very tough questions for the trucking company.
