Police have said that they have reason to believe nine people were hurt when three vehicles became involved in a serious chain reaction accident on Highway 105 around 10:00 in the evening on Sunday. Scene of the Accident

Nine people were taken by EMS personnel to area hospitals where updates on their conditions were not made available by hospital personnel.

The investigation into the accident is being handled by officials from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Commentary:

Chain reaction accidents can be very complicated situations for anybody involved. The State of Texas uses a comparative fault system to assign liability in an accident, and it will probably come into play with an accident like this one. Comparative fault is a determination of responsibility, and repairs based on a percentage point value. This comes especially in handy in cases where there are multiple vehicles and multiple victims. Understanding comparative fault and how it relates to pileup crashes can help simply a very complex situation, and ensures that the proper parties are held accountable.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
