Commentary:
The details in the news report are extremely scarce, but in cases like these its always a good idea to arm people with knowledge of comparative fault. Comparative fault is used in some situations where a jury awards liability on a percentage-point basis. Meaning, if the damages in an accident total to one hundred dollars, and one party is awarded 90% of the fault, then that party is responsible for $90 in damages. This is obviously a massive oversimplification of a very complex process, but this is for the purpose of explanation. People may be unfamiliar with how these situations work, and being armed with this information could make all the difference in a serious situation should one arise.
