Police are asking for help in identifying the driver who failed to stop. With the publics help Im sure they will find the suspected vehicle. When the driver is caught a third party should work in collaboration with the police findings to determine if liability exists from the accident. One of the chief areas of investigation should be the positioning of both the driver and the pedestrian on the roadway. My firm has litigated several cases against inattentive drivers who veered onto the shoulder (and in a couple of matters onto the sidewalk) of a roadway and struck a pedestrian. In each we were able to show that the defendant breached their duty to safe vehicular operation and thus incurred fault.
