Aroostook County, ME — Two people were hospitalized following an accident with a logging truck in Aroostook County, Maine, on Monday, February 16, 2015. The accident happened on Route 1A.
Reports say that a logging truck drove over the front half a car, with three people inside at the time. The victims have been identified as Josh and Heather Bresset. Both sustained serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital after emergency workers freed them from the wreckage.
Also inside the vehicle was their two-year old son. He was not injured.
The driver of the logging truck wasn’t injured. The truck is owned by a company based out of Nova Scotia. Police are continuing to investigate.
Scene of the Accident
Reports say that blinding snow drifts may have played a role in this accident. That’s very possible. The northeast has been getting some crazy weather lately. But as a defense in an accident like this, that doesn’t hold up too well. The weather is going to be what it’s going to be, and a driver has a responsibility to either adapt to it, or stay off the road. If this truck driver couldn’t see what was in front of him, he shouldn’t have been driving. Fortunately, this accident wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. Still, the truck driver has some pretty hard questions to answer right now.
