Lorena, TX — Police said that 2 people were injured early Wednesday morning in an car accident, one of them critically, and they believe alcohol was a factor. They said that Douglas Nix, 31, was critically injured when the pickup truck he was in crashed of Rosenthal Parkway and landed in a creek.
Also injured in the accident Derrick Freeman, 24, who was the truck’s driver. This happened around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2014. Freeman had been driving a Chevy pickup truck along Rosenthal Parkway that morning when he lost control near Southwinds Drive and swerved off the road.
His truck then went down an embankment and began to roll over, eventually landing in a nearby creek. The rollover ejected Douglas Nix from the truck, who was riding as a passenger. The authorities said that while both men were injured, Nix was the most seriously hurt. They were taken to Baylor Scott & White at last update.
Allegedly, alcohol was a factor here because police reported seeing beer cans at the crash site, which they believe to have come from Freeman’s truck.
