Commentary:
While police are still working to determine what role – if any – alcohol may have played in this accident, many people wonder in situations like this how exactly an alcohol related accident and a regular accident differ, considering it is just a matter of two vehicles colliding. Well, believe it or not, there is a lot more to it. When dealing with an alcohol related accident, police are not just investigating a collision, but the potential crimes committed leading to the collision. Considering the majority of drunk drivers in Texas have recently left a bar, I’d also be looking where the offending driver came from before the accident. If they came from the bar, both the person that broke the law by getting behind the wheel drunk, and the bar that broke the law by serving somebody too much to drink need to be held accountable for the accident. Again though, the offending driver could have just nodded off at the wheel in the moments before the crash, and I could be way off base, but people need to know and understand these things so every angle can be looked at.
