New Waverly, TX — There was a major accident along I-45 this past Sunday night (November 23, 2014) that killed two people. Police said that it happened in between Willis and New Waverly, and required the assistance of the New Waverly Fire Department.
The accident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, they said. A pickup truck was headed north along the interstate that evening, near the county line, when the driver lost control for some reason and left the roadway.
The truck then drove into a nearby pole, which caused it to catch fire. The force of the wreck and the fire killed two people inside the truck immediately. It’s not clear if anyone else was in the truck or was injured.
As of Monday evening, it’s not immediately clear who was driving the truck or why they lost control. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, however.
