FRESNO, CA — A two-vehicle rear-end accident involving a tractor-trailer left one person dead in Fresno, California on Saturday, July 19th, 2014, according to a news report from The Fresno Bee.
Police think that one person died when the Toyota Tacoma they were driving is believed to have collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer while driving on Highway 99 around 8:30 Saturday morning.
Scene of the Accident
The driver of the Tacoma was killed in the crash. No other injuries were mentioned in the news report.
The California Highway Patrol was assisting with the crash cleanup and investigation.
Commentary:
There is a very good chance that this accident was the fault of the victim, based on the news reports, but is this the only possibility? Absolutely not. There could have been a brake light problem, or the lights themselves could have been completely obscured by road grime that kicks up behind the truck, either way, these are the kinds of accidents that need a closer look because the accident investigators believe they already know what happened, and may seek their own answers instead of the truth.
