RIO ARRIBA, NM — A head-on collision left two people dead in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico on Thursday, June 20th, 2014, and police believe alcohol may be to blame according to KRQUE.
New Mexico Police say that 23-year-old Leo Gurule was killed when a Ford pickup truck and a car collided head-on for reasons currently under investigation while driving on Highway 84.

Leo Gurule was killed in the crash, as was 45-year-old Carolos Archuleta. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck currently faces drunk driving related charges in connection with the fatal crash.
Commentary:
If the driver of the pickup truck is found to have come from a bar before the accident, I’d be very interested to have a look at the security footage from the bar, as well as the driver’s tab. Why would this matter? Because liquor liability laws allow people to file claims against bars that over-serve alcohol to customers, and those customers then go off and cause an accident. Bars make a promise to the state before they open that says they will serve alcohol safely and responsibly, and if they break this contract, they need to be held accountable for the damage.
