Scene of the Accident

Joseph Alaniz was killed in the crash, while Brandon Cook, Vasantha Fraser, and Drequan Meyers were taken by EMS to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

The Texas State Troopers are helping determine what may have caused the accident.

Commentary:

While it is not mentioned once in the article, there are still plenty of questions I have about this accident based on what I see floating around in the news. Firstly, we have a group of teens in a car at three in the morning that allegedly swerved to avoid a deer. I’m very curious to know if alcohol was a contributing factor in this accident. We have seen plenty of accidents where negligent drivers blame accidents on deer or ghost cars that nobody can seem to verify. If alcohol turns out to be a factor in this accident, finding out where the teens acquired it would be prudent, because it could uncover yet another liable party if it came from a licensed alcohol seller, simply for the fact that they failed to serve or sell alcohol safely and responsibly.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
