UPDATE: Judy Bailey Killed in Car Accident in Hedgesville, West Virginia

HEDGESVILLW, WV — A single-vehicle rollover accident claimed the life of the driver in Hedgesville, West Virginia on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014, according to the report from Your 4 State.

Police believe Judy Bailey was killed when the vehicle she was driving is thought to have rolled off the road while driving on Hedgesville Road around 6:30 Sunday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Paramedics pronounced Judy Bailey dead on the scene when they arrived. She was alone in the vehicle, and nobody else reported injury after the crash.

Authorities hope any eyewitnesses that have not yet come forward will do so to help police better understand what may have caused this crash.

Commentary:

I’ve said it plenty in the past, but any single-vehicle crash needs to be thoroughly examined for problems in the vehicle before a driver can be faulted. This is not only responsible, but thorough investigative work. We all have seen a news segment at some point about manufacturer defects and recalls, but the problem with these is there have to be a number of similar accidents before the automaker will take notice. If the manufacturer of the car is liable for this accident, nobody will be able to tell unless the wreckage is combed over.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
