Commentary:
Any time a fire breaks out in a vehicle after an accident, I always remind people that fires start somewhere, and determining where is not that difficult. Why is this information significant? Because if the vehicle started within the victim’s vehicle, there could be what is known as a products liability claim if a defective part or design flaw caused the fire to erupt. Additionally, tractor-trailers are built with a gas tank mounted on the outside of the vehicle, and if this tank was ruptured in the accident and sparked the fire, the manufacturer of the truck could be liable, but nobody can say for sure until experienced investigators get their hands on the evidence.
