UPDATE: Russell Sylvester Killed in Car Accident in Ogden, Utah

OGDEN, UT — One driver is dead and two others were hurt in a major crash in Ogden, Utah on Sunday, June 1st, 2014, according to a report from KUTV.

Police familiar with details of the crash investigation have said that they have reason to believe that Russel Sylvester was killed when the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed into another vehicle for reasons currently unclear to investigators while driving on Harrison Boulevard near the intersection with SR 89.

Scene of the Accident

Russel Sylvester was killed in the crash. Injured in the crash was Vivian Sylvester and Kenneth Hahn, who were taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

The investigation is being handled by officials from the Utah State Police.

Commentary:

The fault with this accident is going to depend on the kind of intersection where this took place. If one of the vehicles possibly ran the stop sign or light, they would be more than likely responsible for the crash, but what if there is more going on? If the brakes were applied in the offending vehicle, and failed to engage to stop or slow the car, the manufacturer of the car, or possibly the part that failed could be held accountable. Either way, nobody will be able to say for sure without a clean look at the accident.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
