Emily Mee Injured in Car Accident in Newfield, ME

Newfield, ME — According to reports coming out of Maine, a woman was injured in an accident with a pickup truck on Tuesday. The accident took place on Water Street in Newfield, around four in the afternoon.

Emily Mee was driving down the street when she was hit by a Ford F250 being driven by Steven Boivin. Mee had to be extricated from her vehicle by emergency workers arriving on the scene. She was then taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland by helicopter.

Boivin said that before the crash, he had leaned over to pick up his cell phone, which had fallen to the floor.

At last report, Mee was listed in satisfactory condition.

Charges are expected to be filed against Boivin.

Scene of the Accident

Anything is possible, but it seems like we have a pretty good idea of what happened here. The driver of the truck dropped his phone, he bent to pick it up, and crashed into the victim’s car. Thankfully, she’s alright and getting the proper medical attention. With the driver of the truck pretty much admitting to being at fault for the accident, there hopefully won’t be a lot of back and forth in the aftermath. Hopefully, he’ll do his part to make this right.

However, there are several things that can hold up what might be considered a “speedy” claim. And of course, what might seem cut and dry to a victim will be anything but to an insurance company. So if there’s every anything that doesn’t seem as clear as it should to someone involved in an accident like this, it’s never a bad idea to have someone looking after your interests.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
