FLUSHING, NY — Ten people were hospitalized after a major bus accident in Flushing, New York on Friday, May 2nd, 2014, according to the report from New York One News.
Investigators have said that they have reason to believe ten people were hurt when a MTA bus was struck by a airport shuttle van while driving through the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Prince Street just before 10:00 Friday night.
Scene of the Accident
Ten people were taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. Four of the people were listed in crticial condition.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
Commentary:
It all depends on what happened in the accident, but if the shuttle van was at fault, it may be a good time to talk about the ins and outs of underinsured motorist coverage. Lets say I run my car into a storefront on accident, and I do about a million dollars worth of damages. Well, there is no way my insurance policy would cover that kind of loss, which is where underinsured coverage steps in. Essentially, my policy would be maxed out, and the UIM coverage would step in and cover the rest. This can be especially handy when things like buildings, buses, tractor-trailers or exotic cars are damaged or destroyed in a crash.
