VICTORIA, TX — One person was hurt in a collision in Victoria, Texas on Sunday, April 20th, 2014, according to a news report from The Victoria Advocate.
Authorities have said that they believe a 26-year-old driver was seriously hurt in a crash when a vehicle is thought to have ran a stop light at the intersection of Red River and Ben Jordan on Sunday afternoon.
Scene of the Accident
The driver was taken by EMS to Citizens Medical Center where he an update on his condition was immediately unavailable by hospital staff.
Authorities expect to release more information about the accident in the coming days.
Commentary:
If the news report is accurate, and one of the drivers has blown a stop sign and caused an accident, people may have questions about how the accident may be handled. If a driver has in fact ran a stop light, people may believe this automatically makes them responsible for the accident, but these people should know that there is a massive difference between being found at fault, and taking responsibility for the accident. While it certainly does not hurt a case, the fact that the driver in question was cited is by no means a guaranteed win. Insurance companies never part with settlements without a fight, which is why a thorough investigation may help stack evidence against the person responsible for the accident.
