Toyota Set to Recal RAV4 and Lexus HS 250h Models Due to Suspension Issue

According to the manufacturer and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Toyota is set to recall approximately 778000 RAV4 models as well as roughly 18000 Lexus HS 250h units. Fasteners to the rear suspension may not have been torqued to the correct specification potentially increasing the risk of accident. The RAV4s affected were manufactured between 2006-2011 while only the 2010 Lexus models are being recalled.

Commentary

While the problem appears to manifest itself after prolonged use it is still important to have this recall completed. When a manufacturer learns of a potential problem with one of the vehicles a recall will be issued to mitigate their liability. Of course inherent to this discovery is usually an accident whose cause is determined to be mechanical.
