Folding Beach Chairs Recalled Due to Laceration Hazard
According to the manufacturer and the USCPSC Backyard and Beyond is set to recall at least 15000 Folding Beach Chairs due to a laceration hazard. The chairs have exposed metal rivets which pose a hazard to children. The products were sold between June 2011 and June 2012 and can be returned for a full refund via the manufacturers website.
Commentary
Depending on the injurys severity a laceration may or may not make good financial sense to pursue an injury lawsuit. Minor scrapes and cuts may not reach the threshold to warrant the high fees associated with filing a lawsuit. On the other hand the injury that began this recall was a toddler who required stitches after cutting herself on the chair. This may indeed reach the aforementioned threshold. Its important to have injuries investigated as there is a monetary value associated with them which will then determine if civil remedies exist moving forward.
